Musical Reception Honors Daniel Pearl
Oct. 22, 2010 | Naha
Journalists discuss the Daniel Pearl Freedom of Press Act signed by President Obama in May 2010.
On Friday, Oct. 22, the U.S. Consulate General in Naha invited reporters covering political, educational, and cultural events to the Consul General's house for a "Daniel Pearl Music Days" reception.
The reception featured a performance by two traditional Ryukyu dancers accompanied by a drum, flute, shamisen, and koto.
Reporters learned about the late journalist Daniel Pearl and how he used music to connect with people during his reporting assignments.
