Sept. 27-29, Miyako Island - Consul General Raymond Greene traveled to Miyako Island this week. While there, he reaffirmed America’s close ties with the local community by meeting with the island’s Mayor Toshihiko Shimoji and members of the local business community. In addition, he observed the Okinawa Electric Power Company’s demonstration site for a 4,000 kilowatt of photovoltaic generation Smart Grid system at Fukuzato area.

Consul General Greene also spoke before almost 100 students at Kagamihara Junior High School on the value of learning English and studying foreign cultures. The events were all well covered by local newspapers and TV.
