Aug 3 - Sept. 25, Naha – Students from Okinawa International University, Okinawan Christian University and the University of the Ryukyus had the unique opportunity of working in the Public Affairs office at the United States Consulate General in Naha. During their internship these students assisted consulate staff in their day to day jobs and learned what it takes to be a member of a closely knit team.
The students participated in several programs, attended meetings with the officers and staff, celebrated special occasions and even helped arrange the consul general’s regular press conference. The work they performed was of great assistance to the consulate and their efforts were greatly appreciated. At the end of their internship, each intern must write report for their universities detailing their experience and we know the reports will be filled with interesting observations on how the diplomatic offices of the United States in Okinawa help serve the both Americans and Okinawans.
