August 29, Urasoe City – More than 150 preschool and elementary students sang songs and told stories in English for a packed auditorium in Urasoe City as a part of the 2nd Annual English Storytelling Contest, an event intended to help promote English study among younger students. Many of the performances were quite lengthy and obviously required a great deal of effort. Thanks to the commitment of the students, teachers and parents, the show was a great success.
Co-sponsored by the Okinawa Association for the Study of Teaching English to Children, with support from the Urasoe City Board of Education and the Urasoe Public Library's American Corner, the contest demonstrated the kind of success that can be achieved when different groups work together in support of an important cause. Consulate General Naha is proud to work with such wonderful organizations.
