July 1, Naha – Consul General Maher spoke before a group of local politicians, JSDF Officers, Academics and students Wednesday night as part of a panel discussion on US/Japan security issues. During his statement, Mr. Maher addressed calls for the revision of the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) made by other panel members. He downplayed the need for revision and asserted that the SOFA is a fully functioning agreement as it stands.
