Urasoe, April 25 – Famed ukulele player Jake Shimabukuro performed before a group of special guests at Consul General Maher's home this Saturday. Between songs, Mr. Shimabukuro spoke about how the ukulele has changed his life since and how he began playing at the age of 4 after being inspired to take up music by his mother. A master of his instrument, Mr. Shimabukuro showed how the deceptively simple four-string instrument could be used to play complex compositions created for other music genres.
Mr. Shimabukuro is currently touring Japan at the request of the U.S. Embassy to talk about the healing power of music. His most recent album, "Jake Shimabukuro Live" is available through major retailers or his website - www.jakeshimabukuro.com
