Nago, Okinawa December 1 – In a close competition featuring 17 students from 8 senior high schools across the Yanbaru district of Okinawa, Ms. Yayoi Nakada, of Hokuzan Senior High School was awarded the Gold Prize and the American Consulate General Scholarship at the Yanbaru 11th Annual Senior High School English Contest.

The scholarship, valued at 100,000 yen, was awarded by U.S. Consul Thomas M. Kreutzer and is intended to promote the study of English in the Northern Okinawa.
