Naha, September 13 – Dr. Diane Hooie, Senior Advisor to the National Energy Technology Laboratory at the US Department of Energy, addressed an audience of approximately 40 business people, academics and local government leaders on the United States' commitment to clean energy. The program detailed US efforts to reduce green house gas emissions and develop more environmentally effective energy resources. Many attendees, noting the fact that the United States is not a signatory to the Kyoto Protocol, were surprised at how strong America's commitment to clean energy actually is. Dr. Hooie says that correcting that misperception is the best part of her job.
