On June 24-July 1, Dr. Michael E. Rudder, Regional English Language Officer, U.S. Department of State, visited Okinawa for a series of programs, highlighted by a keynote speech on "The Importance of English in a Global Society" before members of the Okinawa Prefectural Government's international school preparatory committee. While on the island, Rudder also lectured on "Motivation: the Key to Success" before 20 faculty members and students at the University of the Ryukyus. He also conducted programs at the Okinawa Prefectural Education Center, Yamauchi Middle School, Kushi Elementary School, Urasoe City Board of Education and the Meio University Institute.
