On February 9, approximately forty media representatives received a briefing and tour regarding the Patriot Missile system installed at Kadena Air Base late last year. The program was sponsored by the U.S. Consulate General in Okinawa and conducted with the cooperation of the U.S. Army and Air Force.

Okinawa Army Commander Col. Kenneth S. Lundgren, Patriot Missile Batallion Commander Lt. Col. Matthew T. Michaelson and Consul General Kevin Maher briefed the group on the missile system. This was followed by a tour of an actual Patriot missile battery site.
