North Korean Expert Visits Okinawa

On December 4, Center for Strategic and International Studies Senior Associate Joel S. Wit visited Okinawa for a series of programs regarding "Addressing the DPRK Challenge: U.S. Policy and Bilateral/Regional Coordination " On arrival, Wit met with approximately 20 senior U.S. military officers over lunch. Following interviews with reporters for the Okinawa Times and Ryukyu Shimpo, Wit participated in a study group with eight Okinawa Prefectural Assembly members who follow U.S.-Japan Security Alliance issues. Finally, Public Affairs Officer Frank Stanley hosted a dinner for Wit attended by four prominent Okinawan academics.
