On June 15, well-known Japan specialist Dr. Kent Calder, who is the director of the Edwin O. Reischauer Center for East Asia Studies at the School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS), visited the Consulate General to meet with Consul General Thomas G. Reich. While at the Consulate General, Calder also sat down with a reporter for the Ryukyu Shimpo to discuss various issues, including Japan /China relations. That same evening, Consul General Reich hosted a small dinner for Calder with various Okinawa dignitaries.
