QDR Specialist Visits Okinawa

On March 30 and 31, Mr. Roy Kamphausen, Director of National Security Affairs at the National Bureau of Asian Research, visited Okinawa to participate in three programs. He spoke on "The Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR): U.S. Military Strategy and Objectives in Asia" before the Consulate General's "study group" for 15 Okinawan journalists and U.S.military public affairs officers. The same evening, Consul General Thomas G. Reich hosted a dinner for guests that included Okinawa Prefectural Assembly member Tsunehiro Iha, Ryukyu University Professor Masaaki Gabe, and Kyodo News Service Okinawa Bureau Chief Hideaki Aso. The following morning Kamphausen briefed eight members of the local American Chamber of Commerce on the QDR.
