US Embassy Tokyo Economic Minister Jim Zumwalt addresses the Keizai Doyukai during a recent visit to Okinawa.

On March 22, U.S. Embassy Tokyo Economic Minister Jim Zumwalt visited Okinawa. While on the island, Zumwalt spoke before approximately 50 members of the Keizai Doyukai on the current state of U.S.-Japan economic relations. In addition, Zumwalt, who has been selected to become the director of the State Department’s Office of Japanese Affairs this summer, met with local U.S. military commanders and toured U.S. bases. Consul General Thomas G. Reich also held a small dinner for Zumwalt with various prominent Okinawans.
