Political-Military Affairs Director Kevin Maher from the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo visited Okinawa to give an on-the-record speech explaining U.S. views on the base transformation process to approximately 70 editorial writers affiliated with the Kyodo News Service.
The same evening, Maher participated in a dinner hosted by Public Affairs Officer Frank Stanley with nine representatives from the two local newspapers and three television stations.
