Deputy Chief of Mission Donovan Visits Okinawa

Deputy Chief of Mission Joseph R. Donovan visited Naha Dec. 6-8 for the first time since assuming his position in August. While in Okinawa, he had dinner at Consul General Thomas G. Reich's residence together with Okinawan academics, journalists and civic leaders. He also met with Governor Inamine and 15 members of the Okinawa Prefectural Assembly.

Later, Donovan gave a joint interview with the Ryukyu Shimpo, Okinawa Times and Stars and Stripes. (See Ryukyu Shimpo interview)

While in Okinawa, Donovan also met with U.S. military commanders and toured military facilities on the island, including Kadena Air Base, Torii Station and Camp Courtney.
