    September 24-25—High Schools students from 6 Okinawan and 2 U.S. Base schools gathered, competing in the U.S. Consulate’s annual Photo Contest to best depict the contest theme, English Language in Okinawa.  

  • The First Place team that created Manga best depicting U.S. - Japan cooperation in Operation Tomodachi was comprised of Akino Fukuji (Yomitan High School), Momiji Kouno (Okinawa Shogaku High School), Hitomi Maekawa (Kaiho High School), and Victoria Britten (Kubasaki High School).

    September 17— High school students from 7 Okinawan and 2 U.S. Base schools gathered, competing in mixed teams to create Manga depicting U.S. - Japan cooperation during Operation Tomodachi.

    American Journalist Discusses Changes in Modern Journalism

    American Journalist Jim Brady spoke about the evolving nature of modern journalism to students at Okinawa International University. Mr. Brady discussed the effect social media is having on Journalism, particularly in light of the March 11, earthquake and Tsunami in Tohoku.
